Here are the top 5 most important things I learned as a professional blogger.

If you are just messing around as a blogger you can get the cheapest host out there and be fine.

Even though went into blogging wanting to do it professionally, I was an unemployed grad student so, so I signed up with BlueHost because it is dirt cheap.

However, if you really want to take blogging seriously, start with the best host that makes sense to you.

If you don’t want to start with a premium host until you’re making money, that’s okay, I totally get it and would’ve done the same.

So, start out with a really good affordable host like Lyrical Host.

If you’re the type that wants to jump all in, then Agathon is the host for you.

2. Keyword Research is Vital

If your posts are badly titled, they will never be seen.

Keyword Research tools are really helpful at helping you pick the best name for your post.

Also, depending on the tool, you may also find ideas for related topics to write about.

3. Pinnable Images

Pinterest is helpful for most any blog.

So, having big beautiful vertical images that both you and readers can pin people can pin is a must.

Also, vertical images are easier to see on a phone, which is where most traffic comes from.

Not to mention, it gives more room for ad space which will make you more money.

4. SEO is vital

If you are using WordPress most of your SEO will be taken care of, but you still need SEO for Blog Posts.

Good SEO helps Google like your posts and gives you a competitive advantage.

5. Content is King

The importance of writing a good well written post cannot be understated.

Likewise, following a good content strategy will make a big difference.

The more posts you write that are in some way connected to each other, the more Google will view you as an authority on the topic.

I did this on my food blog without realizing it because I had a niche.
